24-Hour Personalised Care

A caregiver is awake and present in the house at every hour, through the night as well as the day.

Care does not run to a shift pattern that suits us — it follows the rhythm of the people who live here. Someone is always awake in the house, so a resident who wakes at three in the morning is met by a familiar face rather than a call button. Because we are a small household, our caregivers know each resident's ordinary: how they take their tea, which side they prefer to be helped from, what a bad day looks like for them. That familiarity is what allows us to notice a change early, often before it becomes a problem.

What this includes

  • Waking overnight staff — never a sleeping shift
  • A written care plan reviewed with your family every quarter
  • The same small team, so changes get noticed early
  • Prompt contact with your family when something shifts

Personal Care Assistance

Help with bathing, dressing and grooming, offered in a way that protects privacy and dignity.

The daily tasks that become difficult are often the ones people find hardest to ask for help with. We approach them slowly and without fuss. A resident is asked, not told; given time, not hurried; and encouraged to do the parts they can still manage themselves, because holding onto that is worth more than getting finished quickly. Preferences are recorded and respected — a morning bath rather than an evening shower, a particular cardigan, hair done a certain way.

What this includes

  • Bathing, showering and personal hygiene
  • Dressing, grooming and daily routines
  • Discreet, respectful continence support
  • Independence encouraged wherever it is safe

Medication Management

Every dose ordered, stored, given and recorded correctly — and reviewed by a registered nurse.

Medication is one of the most common reasons a move to an adult family home is needed, and one of the easiest places for things to go wrong at home. We take it off your family's shoulders entirely. Prescriptions are ordered and collected before they run out, stored securely, and administered on schedule by trained staff who sign for each dose. A registered nurse reviews the full list regularly and liaises with the prescribing physician and pharmacy, so interactions and duplications get caught.

What this includes

  • Every dose administered on time and signed for
  • Regular review by a registered nurse consultant
  • Repeat prescriptions ordered before they run out
  • Direct coordination with physician and pharmacy

Alzheimer's & Dementia Care

Calm, structured days in a small household — the environment memory loss responds to best.

A large, busy building is disorienting for someone living with dementia. A six-person house is not. Our residents see the same faces and the same rooms in the same order every day, and that predictability does more to reduce anxiety than almost anything else we could offer. Our caregivers are trained to step into a resident's reality rather than correct it, to recognise what is behind agitation — pain, tiredness, needing the bathroom — and to respond to the feeling rather than argue with the facts.

What this includes

  • A consistent daily rhythm that reduces confusion
  • Staff trained in redirection rather than correction
  • A secure home and garden, safe to move around freely
  • Familiar objects and photographs encouraged in rooms

Home-Cooked Meals

Three fresh meals a day, cooked in our kitchen and eaten together at one table.

Nothing about our food is institutional. Meals are cooked here each day from fresh ingredients, and the smell of them moving through the house is part of what makes this place feel like a home rather than a facility. We cook to medical requirements — low sodium, diabetic, soft or pureed textures — without letting the plate look like a compromise. Residents tell us what they like, and those dishes find their way onto the menu. Everyone eats together, because mealtimes are as much about company as nutrition.

What this includes

  • Three fresh meals daily, plus snacks and drinks
  • Diabetic, low-sodium and modified-texture diets
  • Favourite dishes added to the household menu
  • Discreet help with eating whenever it is needed

Not sure which level of care is needed?

Most families are not, and that is entirely normal. Come and talk it through with us. We will assess your loved ones’ needs honestly, and if this is not the right setting for them we will tell you so and help you look elsewhere. We would rather do that than take a placement we cannot do well.
